Our first candidate for Stupid Criminal of the week

Posted on: October 6, 2010

Criminals are not the brightest bulb in the pack. This story is a perfect example.

Raymond Stanley Roberts was pulled over for a routine traffic stop for speeding in Bradenton, Florida. When the police approached his car they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The police wrote Roberts a speeding ticket and then asked him about the last time he smoked marijuana. He replied that he smoked it the night before. The police decided to search the vehicle as well as search Mr. Roberts.

While searching Mr. Roberts, the police felt a soft object between his buttocks. Roberts pulled it out and it was a small bag (about 4.5 grams) of marijuana. The police continued to search Mr. Roberts and felt another soft object in the same area. This time the police pulled it out and found a bag with 27 pieces of rock cocaine weighing 3.5 grams.

Mr. Roberts claimed that the cocaine wasn’t his but was his friend’s cocaine. Now who would keep a friend’s cocaine in that special place? Maybe a stupid criminal who thought he could get away with a crime.

He is charged with possession of rock cocaine and marijuana.
