Sarah Palin’s speaking engagement canceled due to personal attacks

Posted on: February 7, 2011

Sarah Palin was scheduled to speak for a nonprofit group, Patriots & Warriors Gala in Glendale, Colorado on May 2nd of this year. However, the event was canceled the day after it was announced due to “an onslaught of personal attacks” against Palin. This event was billed as an awards banquet and fundraiser for military families in need and for a grief camp for children who had lost loved ones in combat.

A press release posted on the sponsoring organization’s Facebook page reads, “Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Gov. Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns.”

The press release goes on to say that no direct threats were made against Palin, nor were any made against members of the organization’s staff, but in light of the shooting rampage in Arizona last month, the negative rhetoric “raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America.”

“The organization deeply respects Sarah Palin,” reads the release, “and appreciates her willingness to come and honor our military. The organization plans to host the event at some point in the future, featuring another speaker.”

Now isn’t that a real sign of civility in this country? Of course, I’m being sarcastic!  This event was raising funds for our military families. Because Sarah Palin was going to speak at the event and because of crazies, who hate this woman, were spewing their venom and hate, the event and her speaking engagement was canceled.

What a sad day for liberty and freedom of speech. What a sad day for our military families. What gives these crazies the right to stop an event as well as stopping free speech in this country? They should be ashamed of themselves. Frankly, I’m getting tired of people who act like this. If they don’t want to hear her speak, don’t go to the event.

Doesn’t Sarah Palin have the right to give a speech at an event that just may be near and dear to her? After all her son did serve in the military and I’m sure she feels that this is a worthwhile cause. Think of all of those military families who will not benefit from this event.

What has happened to our country today when a communist and socialist like Van Jones is allowed to speak but a conservative woman whose son served in the military cannot because of personal attacks and threats?

Wake up America! Your freedoms are slowly being taken away from you from the progressive liberals who want to ruin this country.
