Can you trust a forger to bring a doctor’s note to court?

Posted on: March 29, 2011

In the stupid criminal category, a San Luis-Obispo County California woman showed up in court with a doctor’s note in hopes to delay proceedings in her forgery case.  She was facing nearly five years in prison for forging drug prescriptions. She must have thought her forgery skills were impeccable, however, the prosecutor being a wise person decided to call the doctor on the note to see if he wrote the excuse.

To no one’s surprise, he didn’t. As a result, she was immediately ordered to be taken into custody. The woman, being a drama queen, collapsed on the floor and was taken to the hospital and then to jail.

As you know, forgery is a felony and she could be sentenced to jail for many years. If she decides to forge her release papers from jail, they better check that out as well.
