Government shutdown looming and Congresswomen planning to go shopping

Posted on: April 7, 2011

You can’t make up this stuff folks. Representative Corrine Brown (D-Fla.) yesterday sent out an email to the Congressional Black Caucus members to join her for an “Outing with Congresswoman Corrine Brown” to a boutique in Crystal City, Va.

According to the email, which was addressed to “CBC Schedulers,” Brown “would like to invite the woman [sic] CBC Members to go shopping with her at Daniel’s Boutique this afternoon after votes. Please let me know if your Member is interested and I will inform the Congresswoman.”

The email even suggested that members who would like to share their dress size, the boutique can pull some items for them to have available once they arrive. This is typical of ultra-high-end service boutiques and also known as personal shopping.

I guess a gal has to do what a gal has to do during a crisis. What better way to relieve stress by going shopping. Who’s paying for this shopping trip? They better use their own money and not taxpayer money. Also I don’t think some members of Congress are serious about the impending shutdown of the government.

No wonder the Congressional approval rate is only 23%. Do these Congresswomen take their job seriously or look at their job as one big party?
