Posted on: June 17, 2011

With all the information out there that seatbelts save lives, there are drivers out there not wearing seatbelts. In fact, Colorado State Patrol found more than 8,000 drivers who were not wearing seatbelts. Not only did it cost them money, $65 per citation and $82 for unrestrained children, it may have cost their life.

Highway Patrol Chief James Wolfinbarger said that 11 people died in highway crashes during the Click it or Ticket campaign that began May 23 and ended June 5. Nine of those people were not wearing seatbelts. That comes out to about 82% of drivers killed in an accident.

Just about every state has a Click it or Ticket type of program. The message is clear, wear your seatbelt when driving and make sure
others in your car are buckled up. It will save your life.
