The Obama Stimulus created private jet tax breaks

Posted on: June 30, 2011

People have asked me if I’m telling the truth in my web blogs. Am I twisting the truth to fit my agenda? The answer is an emphatic NO!
I can’t make this stuff up even if I wanted to. I am an honest person who is a truth seeker and besides my conscious cannot handle telling lies or untruths.

However, it seems our President has no problems in stretching and mangling the truth. In his press conference yesterday he referred to “corporate jets” and their owners to give up their tax breaks that no other business enjoys.

Well it seems that The Heritage Foundation points out that President Obama created those tax breaks in his stimulus plan. It was called “accelerated depreciation” in his stimulus package. Just a few months after lawmakers scolded auto executives for flying to Washington in private jets, Congress approved a tax break in the stimulus package to help businesses buy their own planes.

According to The Heritage Foundation, the incentive — first used to help plane makers recover from the 2001 terror attacks — sharply reduces the upfront tax bill for companies who buy assets like business planes.  The aviation industry, which is cutting jobs as it suffers from declining shipments and canceled orders, hopes the tax break in the economic-stimulus bill just signed by President Barack Obama will persuade more companies to buy planes and snap a slump in general aviation that began last year.

“This is exactly the type of financial incentive that should be included in a stimulus bill,” said Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan., in an interview. His state lost at least 6,900 jobs at Cessna and Hawker Beechcraft, both based in Wichita.

This incentive lets companies take a larger deduction in the early years of the life of an asset such as a plane. Companies will have to
place orders by the end of 2009, and those planes will need to be delivered by the end of 2010 to take advantage of the tax benefit.

So there you have it. I am not parsing the truth, I am not telling lies, I am just reporting the truth about this administration’s way of
twisting and mangling the truth to fit their agenda.

There is no truth to his accusations and we call on him to stop spreading this misinformation immediately. In his speech on Thursday Carney had said In the last two weeks or 10 days or so I have been on the receiving end of close to 2 million worth of negative ads on television . Nearly 80 percent of stimulus funding reserved for green jobs went to firms overseas. When asked for comment about Barleys statements Josh Drobnyk a spokesman for the Carney campaign issued a statement that said If there is anyone in this campaign who should be called on to stop the spread of misinformation it is Tom Marino who has repeatedly lied about having used his positions of authority to help friends with criminal records. Drobnyk said that the assertion that stimulus dollars were used to support jobs in China has been totally debunked by independent fact checking organizations. The truth is that Congressman Carney has actually led the effort through the Made in America tax cut to crack down on companies that send jobs overseas Drobnyk said in his statement.
